I was born on January 10th, 1990 in Mountain View, CA and have lived in the same house in San Jose since then, except for 1995 - 2000, during which time I lived in Wellington, New Zealand.
From the day my mother presented me with my PowerMac 7100/66 (which she had salvaged from the offices of Tandem Computers as they were bought out by Compaq), I have been fascinated with computers. Though I am primarily a Mac user, I built my own computer at age 13 when I became interested in overclocking. At 15 I began to use Linux on a modified Xbox. Nowadays, I run it on anything that can't run Mac OS X, including Galactica, my personal server. (No Windows spoken here.) I am currently on my third Apple iBook since 2000.
Musically, I have never been a consumer of the mainstream. At 11 I began listening to Weird Al Yankovich, and only later did I discover that they were parodies of popular music. I liked the Al versions better. 20 years after his debut, he is still producing hilarious and clever parodies (such as "White and Nerdy"). Over the years I have built up a substantial collection spanning 65GB (70% of which is stored in lossless format). My interests include progressive Rock (if that's what you call Pink Floyd), Trance/Electronica, musical theater soundtracks, underground Hip-Hop (especially this album), and any weird fusions of different styles. This description barely scracthes the surface and fails to represent some of the more obscure facets of the music I enjoy, such as the Cirque du Soleil soundtracks, the band Air whose music I dare not classify.
In the summer of 2004 my mother convinced me to audition for the musical Starmites at Med-O-Lark Camp camp. I was amazed at what a positive experience it was for me. Since then I joined the Musical Theater Certificate program at my school, have taken musical theater courses at CMT COPA, began taking voice lessons, and participated in the musical 42nd Street at Harker in April of 2005. Most recently, I played several roles in Harker's Fall 2006 production of The Laramie Project.
In early 2006 (Febuary or so), I was asked to help record the original Art With A Heart CD at Harker. I picked up an M-Audio Fast Track and a Shure SM58, and recorded the entire album in Garageband. This caused me to realize how much I love recording music and working with sound on the computer. My collection of recording gear has gone through several iterations since then... you can see the latest on the "my stuff page. I also decided to start offering my recording services professionally - you can read more about those under the "professional" section of the site.
That summer, I got my driver's license and started driving myself around in the family's 1993 Toyota Corolla station wagon (a stick shift!). Feeling that it lacked character, I spent significant amounts of time working on the audio system and installing an Apple Powerbook G3 as the "carputer". You can see it on the "my stuff" page.
